My training methodThis is a featured page

Training the the second basic requirement for a flying tumbler after the breeding part. Normally each fancier will have their own method of training birds based on their time availability and other daily chores.
I too adopt the one which is best for me but may not be best for some other.

I separate the young ones by the time they are 30 days from the parents and start feeding them on my own. by the time they are 2 months i start resting them on the wired cage where they are desired to land after their training. I usually do not fly them until they are old enough say about till they loose their first 3 feathers by molting.

by this age they will be able to identify the local surroundings and landing place. i slowly start chasing them from the landing board not frightening them but just chasing them so that they dont sit their and need to fly.

they start slowly but by 2-3 days they start flying well say upto 45 minutes sometimes 2 hours (depends on the blood lines you have). i Normally start with 5 young ones at a time. And see to that they dont go too far away by using some birds as droppers. I dont use the big birds to train young ones because they some times take the young ones too far away from where they will not be able to return. By 1 week the birds are well aware of the surroundings and can fly independently. So i start flying them alone one after the other. this is when you come to know which are the birds that the really worth having for the next year.

Then comes the tumbling thing which is most important for any tumbler. the young birds are by now already tail riding diving and also bending the maximum in an attempt to tumble. they slowly learn that act on their own. Dont use the old birds to train youngsters tumble becoz when ever i did the young ones started tumbling too early and too much and went as waste. So let them take their own time on that.
